While not as remarkable geologically as the American side of the border, Waterton picked up the points for its multitude of wildlife. Before we had even left the lakeside porch of the hotel we had seen mule deer with fawn, two big black bears across the lake and a savage afternoon hail storm. Two early mornings and an evening driving expedition netted additional black bear sightings with cubs, a lone wolf that trotted on the hill side by the road for a good fifteen minutes, and a beaver that made a dusky appearance by its lodge. Grizzly B. eludes us still.
